Jetty Road's core range might be a little approachable but with winter 2021 in full swing, head brewer Blake Bowden and the team have been making beers aimed to satisfy certain cravings. If it’s hops you’re after, there’s Attention To Detial, which is either a very funny name or a very unfortunate typo come printing day. The beer also represents the brewery's highest dry hop rate to date, and their most expensive beer to make, with 30 grams per litre of Cryo Simcoe and Idaho 7 used. It’s thick, opaque and mostly a tropical juice bomb, with notes of pineapple, mango, pawpaw and a touch of gooseberry all coalescing before a touch of bitterness comes through on the finish.
If it’s a sweet tooth you have, Beeramisu might be more your style. Although despite it being a pastry stout, it still managed to be quite sessionable over being mouth-coatingly sweet. Sure there is plenty of chocolate - 10 kilos of cacao nibs to be exact - and a smooth note of vanilla but the coffee provides a substantial hit of roasted notes that balances out the beer. Given tiramisu is the kind of dessert that often makes its way onto the table post-lunch, it seems fitting that this is a stout you could still find yourself trying in the sun once Victoria's weather warms back up. If that ever happens....
