Designing a beer is a lot like designing a house. Having never done either, let me explain how. A beautifully-designed house tells a story from the moment you see it and as you continue on, you find it’s layers, subtleties and story which offer an insight into the creativity of those people behind it. That’s what I learnt from Grand Designs anyway (along with the fact that you’re always going to go over budget and the middle part of building a house is very stressful) and KAIJU! share that affinity, with their Kevin McCloud IPA a tribute to that show’s host.
When it comes to the beer, it’s been designed with a mix of wheat, oats and chit and pale malt while Simcoe and Galaxy provide the hoppy finesse. Get yourself acquainted and you’ll find peach, citrus, honeydew and a gentle bitterness that sits above the beer’s soft and lush base. With an ABV that's close to seven percent, there's plenty of structure to the beer's overall profile but beer warned: Kevin hides that booze almost too well.
