Media Release: Melbourne Victory kicks goals with Local Brewing Co for SecondBite

Melbourne Victory, with thanks to Local Brewing Co., has come together for its away goals campaign to donate 21,000 meals to Australia’s largest free food rescue organisation, SecondBite.

The campaign which saw Local Brewing donate the equivalent of 1,000 meals for every away goal Melbourne Victory’s Isuzu UTE A-League Men’s squad scored throughout the 2023/24 season saw Victory amass 21 goals away from home this season.

The 21,000 meals will help thousands of Australians facing hunger and food insecurity.

Melbourne Victory Managing Director Caroline Carnegie said she was excited to be kicking goals with Local Brewing for a great cause.

“We’re thrilled to be able to work with our commercial partners like Local Brewing Co. to deliver positive outcomes in our community with an initiative like this,” Carnegie said.

“It was wonderful to know that every time the boys hit the back of the net this season while on the road, it would help provide more meals to those who need it in our community.

“Melbourne Victory aims to lead, unite, connect and inspire through football, and this program is a great way for us to live and breathe that mantra.  We are proud that we helped Local Brewing donate the equivalent of 21,000 meals this season.”

Local Brewing Co Co-founder Nick Campbell said “In the game of giving, every goal scored is a win for the community. We are constantly exploring new ways to connect our partners and harness unique channels for positive social impact,” Campbell said.

“As the Official Beer Partner of Melbourne Victory, it’s been a big season for the club on and off the field! We are super proud to know that, every away goal is making a real difference where it counts.”

SecondBite CEO Daniel Moorfield said “For every goal scored away from home, Melbourne Victory and Local Brewing Co. have not just made a mark on the field, but also in the lives of those in need," Moorfield said.

"Our partnership shows the power of collaboration in addressing food insecurity and making a tangible difference in our community. We are grateful for the dedication and generosity shown by Local Brewing Co.”
