The beer scene in South East Queensland is going from strength to strength at the moment, with many of the state's breweries taking out top awards and new ones regularly opening their doors.

Among the newcomers is Silver Fox, launching in Stapylton soon. If you want to play a hand in shaping the brewery's beers from the outset, they're looking to hire a head brewer.

Job Description: Head Brewer

Silver Fox is about establish a pub brewery in South East Queensland which will produce high quality and very different beers.

We are in the process of setting up the pub brewery at Stapylton, which is on the northern end of the Gold Coast.

At this stage the brewery design calls for a 1000L kettle and four various sized fermenters, however we plan to expand quickly once production has been stabilised.

We have some innovative and creative ideas which we would like to involve the head brewer in.

The duties will involve brewing several days a week, and daily running of the brewery, but will also require input into all facts of the business. The head brewer will have the opportunity to become involved in the establishment, operation and development of the business. Commencement of brewing is scheduled for the first quarter of 2019.

Selection guidelines:

  • A passion to produce high quality different beers, and a willingness to experiment
  • Have a strong desire to be involved in the development of a brew pub with a difference
  • A sound knowledge of liquor compliance, ATO requirements and OH & S
  • Three years or more of brewing experience will be highly regarded
  • Recognised brewing qualification is highly desirable, but not necessary
  • Sound inter personal, communication and planning skills
  • Will need to work as a part of the team, but also work independently as required
  • A willingness to train and develop other brewers, and staff members
  • Irregular working hours may be required
