The Great Ocean Road needs no introduction. It's one of the world's most famous tourist drives and is home to some of Australia's best-loved beauty spots.

Sitting just a few kilometres away from the Twelve Apostles, Loch Ard Gorge and the Bay Of Martyrs is Port Campbell, a seaside town with a beach lined by limestone cliffs and iconic jetty kept busy with boat launches, people fishing and, in summer particularly, holidaymakers gleefully leaping into the ocean.

Since 2017, the town has also had its own brewery, Sow & Piglets, which is based within a large guesthouse. The brewery's beers are a mix of traditional European styles – head brewer Julian Widera hails from Germany – and modern craft styles, such as an Aussie pale.

The owners are retiring and have put the businesses – brewery and guesthouse – up for sale.

The move comes at a time when government funds are being spent to improve attractions in the wider region, including millions spent on the development of Port Campbell.

For Sale: Brewery & Guesthouse

Leasehold: $1,200,000

Business Description

Sitting at the heart of the Great Ocean Road in Victoria, and the internationally recognised Twelve Apostles, the sale of the Port Campbell Sow and Piglets Guesthouse and Brewery business is an exciting opportunity to be involved in a business that not only realises great returns but has huge potential.

The Great Ocean Road has more annual visitors than Uluru and the Great Barrier Reef combined. It generates 1.3 billion dollars a year in tourism revenue.

The current owners of the Sow and Piglets bought the business in 2014 and turned what was a backpackers hostel into a "beacon of style" guesthouse. The transformation has been as dramatic as it is exquisite. Accommodating up to 72 guests, every room has been sympathetically transformed to create a guesthouse of the highest standards.

The Sow & Piglets Guesthouse caters for all categories of travellers offering diversified accommodation modules of excellence. The installation of a micro-brewery, purpose-built bar and beer garden ensures multiple income streams that provide accommodation, food and beverage for all tourists to Port Campbell.

As a sign of confidence of this iconic tourist attraction, State and Federal Governments have allocated $360 million for the enhancement of the attractions within the region. The Corangamite Shire has approved the largest expenditure ever of $15.6 million for the upgrade of the Port Campbell town centre. In addition, $6 million has been spent on the construction of one of the most scenic bike tracks in Australia linking Port Campbell to the food artisan mecca of Timboon.

This business is a turnkey operation with qualified and skilled staff in place to ensure a smooth transition to the new owners.
