Mental Health & The Good Drinks World

It goes without saying that the past few years have been tough. That's the case for everybody in one way or another, but for many in the drinks and hospitality industries it's been especially hard.

Bushfires led straight into COVID and its cascading lockdowns. Workers lost jobs, with many leaving the industry entirely. And, just as the community was looking forward to a bounce-back summer free of lockdowns or fresh waves of Omicron keeping swathes of people at home, the economy took a nosedive at the same time as the cost of pretty much everything needed to make beer went through the roof.

There's been plenty of discussion around the need to look after each other over that period, and there is growing support out there for those in the industry. And this will be the focus of Mental Health & The Good Drinks World, a night of discussion, ideas and solutions, at Fixation's Incubator.

Topics on the night will cover not just the challenges of recent years, but those of managing the growth of the past two decades, burnout, the support already in place for individuals and businesses, positive ideas businesses can implement and more.

Hosted by The Crafty Pint's founder, James Smith, alongside Tom Delmont of Fixation and David Spargo of MASS: Mind and Strength Support. They'll be joined by a panel of experts from across the drinks industry:

  • Dr Clinton Schultz – Sobah Beverages
  • Evin Craney – Bright Brewery
  • Lindsy Greig – Beer30 & Pink Boots Society
  • Siobhan Kerin – Independent Brewers Association

Tickets cost just $10pp, which includes a beverage, and there will be prizes on the night too (see below).

The event starts at 6.30pm on September 13 at The Incubator, 414 Smith Street, Collingwood.
