Burnley Brewing’s Dandenong production brewery has long been the source of beer for many brewing companies without a home. Among them is Jarrah Boy which is the work of Monero Ngarigo man, Dale Vocale, and focuses on native ingredients and whose story you can read here.
To recognise their connection, the two outfits worked on Njarala with Burnley Brewing bringing one of their own loves - traditional lager - and and Jarrah Boy responsible for the native ingredients. The name itself means to listen or collaborate, while the chosen native ingredients are desert and sunrise limes and karkalla; a succulent that’s also known as pig face and has briney, somewhat spiced flavours. Crack into the can (which was designed by Yarli Creative) and soft sway of citrus from the two limes and herbal, floral quality that sits close to mint. They’re the kind of flavours you might association with a sour but this is Burnley and instead it’s all about the crisp, clean and softly bitter side of beer.
