Moon Dog To Open Doglands Next To Marvel Stadium In Coming Days

Moon Dog are set to open their fourth venue before the end of October. Doglands, which is located on the concourse next to Marvel Stadium in Melbourne's Docklands, is capable of hosting up to 1200 guests on game days and for special events. A separate, smaller venue on the same site, The Jungle Room, will be open seven days a week for lunch, dinner and drinks.

The arrival of Doglands is the second of three major venue launches for the indie brewers in 2024, with another set to open in Frankston before the year is out. They join Moon Dog's original brewery home in Abbotsford, Moon Dog World in Preston, and Moon Dog Wild West in Footscray.

The Crafty Pint broke the news of the brewing team's plans for Dockands in August last year, and now their vision for the space has been unveiled – and once again they're aiming to bring the tropical vibes that infuse both Abbotsford and Preston. The centrepiece is a glowing, 360-degree bar, while there are multiple mezzanine levels and palm-lined boardwalks too.

In a statement announcing the imminent arrival of Doglands – which could open as soon as this coming weekend [UPDATE: It is – the beer hall opens on October 19] – Moon Dog CEO and co-founder Josh Uljans said: “We’ve all been down to a pub on Swan Street before or after a game at the ‘G but never really had that same experience around Marvel, so we’re really excited to be opening somewhere for mates to meet for a schooner and a feed!

“We wanted to create the same game-day atmosphere at Marvel Stadium, with a Moon Dog style twist, and Doglands does just that.

“Moon Dog Doglands is a bright and bold tropical escape bringing all the best bits of Moon Dog under one, enormous roof. There’s truly nothing like Doglands in Docklands or Melbourne. We can’t wait to get the drinks pouring, and for people to be blown away by the incredible Doglands experience.”

We'll be sitting down with Josh and co-founder Karl van Buuren at Doglands for an episode of The Crafty Pint Podcast this month to hear more about their plans for their venues as well as tracing their story, one that is unique in the world of Australian beer.

Media Release: Moon Dog Brings A Tropical Oasis To Doglands

One of Australia’s most loved independent breweries, Moon Dog, are gearing up to welcome Melburnians to their fourth ambitious venue, Moon Dog Doglands, this October.

Set on Docklands’ Marvel Stadium concourse, Doglands will become a tropical oasis amongst the hustle and bustle of the city.

The venue will be the first of its kind in Docklands, elevating Marvel’s game-day experience for punters while adding a much-needed hospitality offering for local residents and workers.

Following the roaring success of Moon Dog OG, Moon Dog World and Moon Dog Wild West, Doglands will be the team’s second of three 2024 openings, and their biggest and most outlandish venue yet.

The larger-than-life 2,021m2 island themed oasis will host up to 1,200 patrons – offering express pub meals and refreshing drinks on event days and function experiences like no other.

A palm tree-lined boardwalk wraps around the vast Doglands space, and up on the mezzanine level you can really take in the outrageous scale of the venue.

A massive, glowing 360-degree bar will sit at the centrepiece of the venue, serving up Moon Dog’s extensive range of beers and seltzers, alongside wine, spirits, cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks. Vacay-inspired specials like a Jungle Spritz with Campari, dark rum & pineapple and a Volcano Bowl Negroni bring a slice of paradise to Doglands.

More than just a place for a pre-or-post game schooner, Doglands will become Melbourne’s go-to event space for functions of all shapes and sizes - from weddings to corporate dos, galas and everything in between. With Christmas parties already filling up for the end of year, the team at Moon Dog are gearing up to end the year with a bang.

On top of the amazing game day experience and function space, Doglands will also be home to The Jungle Room, a 70-person terrace restaurant that will open onto the Marvel concourse - serving up lunch, dinner and drinks seven days a week. The Jungle Room will offer a fresh experience for local residents to drink and dine - providing the perfect spot for knock offs for workers in the area.

The Jungle Room at Doglands will be dishing up a simple, tasty and seasonally curated dining experience with Mediterranean inspired drinking food.

Moon Dog Doglands is part of the brand-new HOME Docklands precinct – Australia’s leading build-to-rent providers.

Doglands will open later this month on Marvel Stadium event days and for functions and events only. The Jungle Room at Doglands will open every day.
