We'll be kicking off our Best of 2021 coverage in WA on Monday (December 13), which is also when we'll pick the winners. The aim is to move to a different state / territory every couple of days after that as we paint a picture of another wild year in beer in Australia.
After a planning meeting this week, there is one change to the way we'll present the series. Rather than running a separate Reader's Best feature in addition to those from our writers around the country, we'll incorporate your highlights as a section within the state / territory features. That way, we're creating a broader snapshot within each article, encapsulating the thoughts and views of our contributors and readers in the one spot.
Anyway, time is running out. If you've enjoyed any great beers and experiences on home turf in 2021, now's the time to tell us!
Every year for as long as we can remember, The Crafty Pint team has put together roundups of the year in beer in each state and territory – and we're embarking on the mission again for 2021.
Given the number of breweries and beers has expanded multiple times since we launched the site in 2010, we've steadily evolved the way in which we put the articles together, as well as how we present them. This year is no different as we're inviting you, our readers, to swell with local pride at the all-round awesomeness of your home state or territory's beer scene.
There's arguably never been a more important time for beer lovers to shout about the best of their local scene either – with travel limited or non-existent for most of the past two years, it's a great way for readers in other states to find out what they can look forward to as borders reopen.
As well as publishing a series of articles from our writers focusing on the best new releases, breakout breweries and standout moments from around the country, we're including the best of the best as chosen by you.
We've put together a sweet prize pool too: one participant from each state / territory will win a year's membership of our beer club, The Crafty Cabal, as well as a limited edition mixed pack of beers from NZ Hops. That's seven prizes in total, each valued at $194.
To take part, use the form below to tell us your 2021 highlights:
- Best new beer from your home state / territory (this must be a new release in 2021, or a new vintage of a prior release)
- Best new brewery in your home state / territory (launched in 2020 or 2021)
- Breakout venue / retailer in your home state / territory (doesn't have to be new – just the one that's had a standout 2021)
- Your local beer highlight of 2021
You don't have to enter answers for them all. To be eligible for the prize, you do need to agree to sign up to The Crafty Pint's newsletters. If you are already signed up, please check the box so we can make sure you're entered. You won't receive the newsletters twice!
