Your Local Bottleshop

Their two bars already turn over 200 different beers on tap every year and now the Local Taphouse empire is to expand into the realm of take home beers. The team behind the St Kilda bar has already been telling people about their plans to knock through into the building on one side of the current site to install a function room and indoor bocce court. And now they’re ready to reveal the next stage in their plan for world domination: a bottleshop on the other side.

The Local Bottle Store and Provisions will stock a wide range of great beers from Australia and overseas as well as a selection of deli produce.

Co-owner Steve Jeffares says: “We will be ‘closing the loop’ by finally allowing customers to purchase a large range of bottled craft beers and ciders from around Australia and internationally for takeaway! We will also start filling growlers – two litre resealable bottles of tap beers. Naturally, there will be a few more surprises come opening day.”

They plan to open the bottleshop before Christmas. The news will no doubt be welcomed by St Kilda residents and Taphouse regulars, as well as those already bought into the growler revolution, with Slowbeer and the 2 Brothers Brewery already offering them as a means of taking home draught beer.

The lineup for the Taphouse’s Oktoberfest has also been announced and can be found in the events diary here, while the team is also delighted to announce that the brewing team from the outstanding Murray’s brewery in NSW will be guests of honour at the next Ale Stars session.

Nice work, Taphouse. Onwards and upwards!
