With winter underway, it's time for the June update from The Crafty Cabal, The Crafty Pint's beer lovers bonus scheme. Readers can sign up to become supporters and gain access to thousands of bucks worth of goodies, giveaways and events throughout the local beer world.
Before we get stuck into it, thanks to everyone who made it to our Good Beer Week opening night party and thanks to Detour, Bodriggy, Future Mountain and Dollar Bill for sharing your beers with us. Thanks to the team at Beer DeLuxe for hosting too.
Cheers to everyone who made it to Young Henrys on the eve of GABS Sydney as well, and to Oscar (pictured above) for telling their story way right back to the earliest conversations over a bar – and for keeping the giant bucket of beers replenished! On that note, we hope the scores of people who got tickets through the Cabal to the various GABS festivals across the land had a marvellous time.
If you've not done so yet, download the free Crafty Pint app. It's designed to help you find good beer when you're out and about, with new breweries and venues added every week. It also shows what Cabal offers are on offer around the country as well as upcoming events.
So, what's going on?
Crafting Conversations
Craft Beer Coopery is a beer subscription service with a difference; it not only offers beer fans the chance to sample a few different beers but also tries to get mates together to check in with each other as they share the beers.
We recently launched our partnership with the organisation to offer one of their boxes every month to Cabalistas. You can get involved by sharing photos when enjoying beers with mates on Instagram and tagging them with #cabalcoopery (NB this is a little different to the original tagging instructions as we wanted a single unique tag).
We’ll pick our favourite each month and they’ll receive a Crafting Conversation Crate in the post.
Straight From The Heart
Congrats to Lucy Smith, Debbie Lilly, Stewart Palmer and Leon Hanrahan, winners of our May's main draw prize thus soon to receive a case each of Cheeky Monkey's beers. Whoever gets the IPA and Mid cans might have a collector's item too as an ABAC ruling means they're going to have to change the design...
For June, 4 Hearts have been kind enough to give us three mixed cases for Cabalistas, with each case featuring their Ipswich Challenger, Limestone Pale Ale, Sunshine Lager and Kickback Red IPA.
It's the first time the Ipswich brewery has ever canned any of its beers, so we're excited to share them with our supporters.

The Sour, The Wild & The Funky
Blobfish is a celebration of all beers sour, wild and funky taking place at Melbourne's Meat Market on August 24.
Named after the deep sea species of fish that was once voted the most hideous creature on earth, the beer festival will see 16 breweries from across Australia and overseas gather for two sessions.
You can find out more about the festival – and book tickets – by heading here.
Thanks to the team at Hop Nation who are organising the festival, we've got our hands on tickets (valued at $75 a pop) to give away. Existing Cabal members can enter a ballot in their member's area now. We'll pick the winners on June 30 to give you plenty of time to grab a ticket if you miss out.
Or, if you aren't a Cabalista or know someone who is thinking of joining, we've got tickets to giveaway as a signup bonus too. Just head here and select the correct option from the drop-down list when entering your details.
You can view our competition rules here.
Beer & BBQ Is Back
The Adelaide Beer & BBQ Festival returns in 2019 and this year's event promises to be the state's largest ever showcase of South Australian, Australian and international beer and cider.
In total, more than 80 exhibitors will be under one roof, including local breweries, international brewers, cidermakers and some top BBQ chefs from Adelaide and further afield. To learn more about the event, or to get tickets, just head here.
For Cabal members, we've got a stack of tickets to give away to each of the sessions across the weekend. Enter via your member's area before June 21.
Plus we've got a few up for grabs as welcome bonuses for new signups to The Crafty Cabal – head here and make sure you select the correct drop-down option.
Even More Beer!
In addition to the above, we've also recently added a bunch of new ongoing offers from brewery and venues across the country:
- If you're a Cabalistas in Hobart, be sure to head into Dirty Pennies to get your hands on a free jaffle with your beer.
- For Melbourne Cabalistas, if you find yourself in Docklands, Urban Alley will have a free tasting paddle waiting for you.
- Newcastle's craft beer bottleshop Tighes Hill Cellars has free six-packs of Murray's 262 Novocastria Brew ready to include with online orders above $100.
- Also online, you can get your hands on Empire Jerky's range of tasty pub snacks with 20 percent off.
- 3 Ravens have also been kind enough to offer Cabalistas 10 percent off on their tickets to their next masterclass that's taking place during their Dark Mass celebration. Just head to your member's area to find out how to get your discount.
That's all for now but keep your eyes peeled for events that we'll be announcing soon, including a mystery event in Sydney next month.
If you're still wondering what The Crafty Cabal is, it's perhaps best described as similar to the subscription services run by community radio stations. You can access everything we do at The Crafty Pint free of charge but if you want to support us in our good beer mission you can by signing up.
In return for your hard-earned, you get deals and freebies at venues across Australia, invites to exclusive events, entry into heaps of awesome competitions with prizes worth tens of thousands every year and more.
