Having launched at the end of 2016 as a gypsy brewer, Sauce Brewing is well along the road towards opening a physical home in Marrickville (pictured above, with founder Mike Clarke at front for perspective). In fact, all things going to plan, their brewhouse should be arriving in a month or so in anticipation of an August opening. And that means it's time for them to bring in a brewer.

Head Brewer – Sauce Brewing

Sauce Brewing Co is newish to the beer scene but intends on making a big splash. 

We’ve got a small range of gypsy brewed beers already in market of which we’re very proud, and we’re currently building a new brewery and taproom in Marrickville which should be complete around August this year. 

We’re a small, hard-working team of self-confessed beer nerds and we’re looking for a first-class head brewer to take on the production side of the business, starting around July.

What's involved...

  • Running the production side of the brewery
  • Recipe Development
  • Quality control
  • Ingredients management (purchasing and stock control)
  • Working closely with other people in the business
  • Managing the brewing and packaging staff
  • Representing the business at events

Minimum skills required...

  • A passion for beer and a complete understanding of the brewing & packaging processes
  • Several years’ experience in a technical brewing position
  • Practical with a hands-on “can do” attitude
  • Experience with production planning, monitoring and forecasting inventory levels
  • Fanatical about cleaning, sanitation and quality control
  • Creative and able to develop new and innovative recipes.
  • Highly organised, diligent and responsible
  • The ability to manage and train junior staff
  • The ability to talk about beer and be knowledgeable when training staff and customers
  • Good customer service & communication skills
  • Forklift & driver’s license, RSA card
  • Ability to multitask, prioritise and balance schedules
  • Able to perform basic maintenance on equipment including brewhouse and packaging line
  • Strong understanding of OH&S in a brewery environment
  • A positive attitude and strong work ethic

Preferable skills...

  • Management experience
  • Experience with Ekos Brewmaster software
  • Experience with canning lines
  • Formal brewing qualification
