The Crafty Pint is looking for more contributors to help us improve our coverage of the Australian beer world. If you can write, have an eye for a story, love great beer and know something about it, then we want to hear from you.
We're well covered in most cities, but are particularly keen to add another writer (or writers) in South East Queensland as well as writers living or spending time in regional areas of the country where there are stories to tell. That said, if you're good, we're keen to hear from you wherever you are.
What are we looking for?
Stories. Stories. Stories. Above all else, we’re looking for contributors to send in stories from all parts of the beer world. Stories that enlighten, inform, entertain and make people think. Stories that help the industry grow and move forward.
What are we not looking for?
Opinion. The Crafty Pint is first and foremost a news and information resource for beer lovers and the beer world. We provide information in the best, most timely and entertaining way we can. We very rarely stray into commenting on issues, preferring instead to present news and information in a straightforward and evenhanded manner and allow people to make up their own minds.
We're also not looking for reviews of beers or events. Other than in exceptional cases, an event is only likely to be of interest to those who attended once it’s over. We prefer to tell people about them beforehand.
What do we like from writers?
The most important thing at The Crafty Pint is to present all stories and information on the site in a clear and easy-to-understand manner. So we're likely to favour people with great writing skills who can tell a story even if their knowledge of beer is less than encyclopaedic; good journalists can turn their hand to any story on pretty much any topic and we can always educate writers over time.
In terms of your approach to writing, we believe the following are essential:

If you can take decent photos too, all the better.
What do we offer?
Payment on a per article basis. We won’t make you rich but we don't expect you to write for free. Tell us you'll write for free and we'll pay you anyway.
The chance to write for a large and growing audience of beer lovers and beer industry people.
Feedback on your articles and writing style, where appropriate. The site's founder is a journalist with more than a decade's experience writing for newspapers, magazines and online as well as writing 150 Great Australian Beers and The Great Australian Beer Guide.
Opportunity. Through our extensive network of friends and acquaintances in the Aussie beer world (and beyond) we can open doors for you to gain access to the people and places that make it what it is.
