IOBC_Photograph-copyright-Offshoot-Creative_IMG_8382 At last year’s Perth Royal Beer Show, the name that ended up on the trophy for Best WA Brewery would have been predicted by few.

It went to Indian Ocean Brewing, based on Perth’s northern fringe.

The brewpub and its beers at Mindarie Marina have been rejigged over the past couple of years, with the result a series of medals at various beer awards, culminating in this trophy.

And now they’re after a head brewer to continue the fine work.

Job Description: Head Brewer

Located in the picturesque Mindarie Marina, 30km north of Perth, WA, and with uninterrupted views of the Indian Ocean, the Indi is a modern, semi industrial space with a laid back, beach house atmosphere.

Award winning beer, great service, fine food, wine, and coffee are hallmarks of this iconic pub and brewery.

In this unique role as Head Brewer you will take overall responsibility for the management of the Indian Ocean Brewery to optimise production and meet demand requirements. As a fully qualified and experienced Brewer, you will be passionate about the premium quality products that you craft.

Your previous experience in boutique breweries will clearly demonstrate your commitment to product quality, innovation and consistency. You will educate front of house staff to share your passion of beer production and styles creating a Beer Academy.

The successful candidate will possess:

  • A relevant recognised tertiary qualification
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Experience in Brewing, Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to undertake and evaluate system audit and training programmes
  • An understanding of current environmental legislation and regulations including philosophy and concepts of benchmarking and best practice
  • Experience in FMCG manufacturing environments

This is a full time role on a fixed term contract for 12 months. A salary package will be negotiated with the successful applicant based on experience, qualifications and skill. You must be eligible to live and work in Australia.

Please note that only shortlisted applications will be contacted for an interview.
