Job Description: Venue Manager

Modus Operandi Brewing Company, based on the sunny Northern Beaches of Sydney, is an award winning family owned brewery that has just turned one! We live by the simple M.O.: beer first. no shortcuts and take this approach right through our venue, which is at the heart of our operation.

Our brew pub is a venue experience where craft beer lovers, locals & holiday makers celebrate craft beer, handcrafted grub & live music in a working brewery. Due to growth and expansion both in the brewery and in the venue, we have a new opportunity for a dedicated, reliable Venue Manager that wants to be involved in a truly independent, creative and diverse team.

The role requires a highly motivated, vibrant and proactive individual with bar/venue management experience who is ready to take on the responsibility of representing Modus Operandi in the venue. Being a small and growing business all of our team have a hands on, can do attitude which is an important attribute in the successful applicant. This role offers a competitive salary and bonus structure, a 5 day week, with two days off (Monday & Tuesday), generous offers of Modus beer and potential for career advancement in a business that is independently owned and has growth plans.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Representing Modus beers with a knowledge of our brewing process, driving a memorable experience for our customers
  • Manage casual staff and front of house ensuring the venues presentation and bar procedures are maintained to the highest standard
  • Recruit and train staff, bar staff rostering and providing your team with a positive culture where you lead both by example and by delegation where necessary
  • Venue event management, including but not limited to; function bookings, special occasion events, marketing, social media, event ideas and making those events happen
  • Cash handling and having an understanding of financials with the ability to meet budgets and control expenditures
  • Effective communication and team work with kitchen, brewing and management teams
  • Bar and venue inventory management and ordering
