Philter Brewing are based in the craft beer heartland that is Marrickville and the Sydney brewery have found many fans since launching.

If you'd like to help keep their brewery running smoothly, they're hiring an experienced packaging technician. 


JOB DESCRIPTION: EXPERIENCED PACKAGING TECHNICIAN

Based in Marrickville, Philter Brewing runs a, fully automated 25hL Premier Stainless Systems brewery with a CODI CCL-45 Canning line with a de-palletiser & COMAC twin head Semi-Automatic Keg washer & filler. We’re producing the good stuff out of a state-of-the-art microbrewery and we need an Experienced Packaging Tech to join the team. 

The successful applicant will have at least two years' commercial packaging experience or in a similar role. In addition to working as part of a skilled and dedicated team, you will have a passion and pride in producing products of the highest quality. 

This role is ideal for someone with machinery experience and a process-driven mindset. Ideally, you will have some background in packaging, science or engineering.  

This is a full-time permanent position that will involve shift work predominantly during normal business hours but may include shifts between 6am – 2pm or 1pm - 8pm, weekend work and public holidays on some occasions. It includes a competitive salary and benefits package, suited to the candidate’s current skills and experience.

This person will report into the Head of Brewing Operations. The role demands a key team player with the task of ensuring the smooth operation of the brewing and packaging facility and will be responsible for delivering to the deadlines and requirements of the production schedule. We need our beer packaged to-spec, on-time, efficiently and safely.

Key responsibilities include:

  • The delivery of the day-to-day operation of a Production Schedule, as outlined by Management 
  • Operation of the canning line or keg cleaner and filler and supervision of the line assistants during your shift
  • Tank and equipment cleaning
  • Overseeing specific quality control around packaging
  • Cellar operations including cleaning, sanitation and product transfers
  • Managing and executing planned maintenance of machinery 
  • Diligence in abiding by quality standards and recipe requirements
  • Accurately entering all required data into brewery management software
  • Driving continual improvement, development and implementation of standards and processes
  • Ensuring that all safety measures and procedures as defined by Philter are met and respected
  • Representing the brewery and engaging directly with our customers and communities in the venue and in trade, at festivals and the wider brewing community.

Essential Requirements

  • Ability to perform packaging and quality control operations
  • Proven knowledge of the packaging process 
  • Ability to maintain a clean and safe work environment for efficient operation
  • Ability to operate to a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to operate and optimise packaging equipment to the highest of work standards
  • Be mentally and physically fit (willing and able to perform labour intensive work)
  • Actively participating in continuous improvement activities across safety, quality and efficiency within the brewery environment
  • Ability to use a forklift to load/unload raw materials and finished product

Education and Skills

  • IBD diploma or equivalent qualification is advantageous to your application
  • Forklift License essential
  • Valid driver licence
  • The right to work in Australia
