Wayward Brewing operate a unique, fun-filled venue in Camperdown and run a host of eclectic events throughout the year.

JOB DESCRIPTION: TAPROOM VENUE MANAGER

Wayward is an award winning, proudly independent brewery that makes an exceptional range of hand-crafted beers. Our 24-tap taproom in Camperdown has been voted best in NSW and regularly features in lists of the favorite brewery taprooms in Australia.

Our taproom staff are legendary for their customer service and we’re looking for an experienced and energetic manager to continue and grow on this legacy by leading our taproom team and managing our operations.

The role will suit a highly organised team player with world-class customer service skills who can ensure that every customer has a positive experience when visiting our venue.

The successful applicant will work closely with the brewery owners as a valued member of the senior management team. Beyond just being an efficient venue operator, the successful applicant will also have the creativity, energy and enthusiasm to consistently improve the business.

This is a full-time position will involve evening and weekend hours, as well as working across public holidays.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure efficient operation of the taproom
  • Train and manage staff to create an outstanding customer experience
  • Ensure our license conditions are always maintained
  • Execute on the taproom marketing plan to grow our reach
  • Plan and execute special events
  • Report back to the management team on the operations of the taproom

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

  • Minimum 5-years’ experience running a venue
  • Excellent team leadership skills
  • Ability to maintain consistency of friendly and efficient service
  • Demonstrated high standards in customer service
  • Experience running successful events and campaigns
  • Proven stock control and financial management skills
  • Ability to develop and document operating systems and procedures and comply with all company policies and procedures
  • Mature attitude, honest, loyal and exceptional work ethic
  • Computer savvy (POS systems, E-mail, MS Word, MS Excel)
  • Current Responsible Service of Alcohol certificate
  • A knowledge of, and passion for, craft beer and brewing are a bonus

Key Performance Area (Roles and Responsibilities)

CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE

  • Build on our reputation as one of Australia’s best taprooms
  • Maintain high standard of customer service at all time
  • Lead by example in front-of-house role
  • Manage resources to ensure smooth, efficient and friendly service
  • Engage customers and seek feedback where appropriate
  • Develop relationships with regular clientele

STAFF

  • Direct staff to ensure smooth operations
  • Manage rostering of staff
  • Assist with the recruitment of staff as required
  • Maintain RSA practices all times
  • Find replacement staff to cover shifts when required
  • Manage staff breaks to coincide with quieter trading periods
  • Knock staff off during quieter trading periods
  • Ensure timesheets are filled out correctly and sign at end of shift

OPERATIONS

  • Monitor cleanliness and hygiene of all taproom areas
  • Final check at end of shift – cleanliness, lights, locked door etc.
  • Cash counted at start and end of every shift
  • Completion daily reporting and banking
  • Ensure security of premises and cash

MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING

  • Organisation and enforcement of daily and weekly cleaning schedules
  • Follow up and resolve any outstanding maintenance issues
  • Overall venue tidiness and cleanliness
  • Ordering of sanitary, cleaning and bar supplies

SALES & MARKETING

  • Monitor sales targets
  • Work with owners and marketing manager on promotions
  • Develop and promote events
  • Execute promotions gaining full engagement from staff
  • Ensure merchandise is maintained and properly displayed

AMBIENCE

  • Ensure music to be appropriate style and volume
  • Schedule and manage any live entertainment acts
  • Maintain happy staff energy behind the bar

FOOD & BEVERAGE

  • Manage food trucks / kitchen
  • Ensure beer lines cleaned weekly
  • Ensure POS correctly configured for all products
  • Ensure guest taps are filled and correctly costed

GOVERNANCE

  • All OH&S guidelines are followed
  • Strict adherence to all license and RSA conditions
  • Sound levels to be checked regularly on Gehrig La
  • Maintain RSA folder at FOH with current certificates
