First responders are amongst the saints of modern society, so it's always nice to see a little extra kudos get thrown their way. And they'll get that, plus a tasty new beer, when a new Code 9 collaboration gets launched in November.
The idea behind the Code 9 Foundation is to support first responders suffering from PTSD and related mental health issues, so four local brewers – CoConspirators, BoJak, Firehouse 51, and Warrandyte Brewing – have teamed up for a fundraising brew; Maggie and Deon from CoCon are both paramedics so they well know what it's all about.
The collaboration is a two part event, with the first offering a Brewer For A Day experience on October 18 where the beer actually gets brewed. [This event is already sold out]
The second part is an open launch party for the beer, and it's happening on November 16 at BoJak Brewing in Dandenong. It'll be very much a family-friendly affair, featuring appearances by local fire, ambulance, and police officers for the kids to meet and gaze in awe at. There'll be heaps of raffle prizes, music, face painting, and all four breweries will have beer pouring – including, of course, the Code 9 beer.
All proceeds from the beer will go to the Code 9 Foundation, which you can find out more about or donate to here.
