For as long as anyone can remember, Ale Stars has been a much-loved fixture at The Local Taphouse. And for a good deal of that time the much-loved man with the mic – the one tasking with quizzing brewers and guiding guests through the intricacies of the beer world – has been Andrew ‘Shandy’ Gargan. It's proven to be a tried, tested and winning formula, but it's all being turned on its head this month as Shandy goes from host to guest.
Yes, for one very special session on September 17 it's Shandy that'll be the star of Ale Stars, with long-time beer compère Pete ‘Professor Pilsner’ Mitcham stepping in on hosting duties as you get to dig into Shandy's own beer story, from humble immigrant beginnings and beer epiphanies to home and pro brewing.
The beers you'll enjoy on the evening will be a reflection of Shandy's eventful story, both here and abroad, and you can expect a surprise or two.
