What's ein prosit in French? You've got a few days to run it through your favourite translator and add it to your casual vocabulary as Oktoberfest is becoming a Gallic-style Oktoberfeast.
On October 22, the Frenchies brewery/bistro will be decked out in the blue and white of Bavaria, pouring a selection of deliciously fresh beers and serving up some of the finest traditional German fare you could expect to find Down Under.
There'll be two menus to pick from – one savoury, one sweet. The former will consist of pretzels with butter, a selection of wursts (weisswurst, bratwurst and currywurst – all with sauerkraut), crispy skin pork knuckle with beer gravy, and kartoffel salad (potato salad).
For something sweet, they're prepping kaiserchmarrn (fluffy German pancakes) with apple sauce, classic apfelstrudel (apple cake with rum raisins) and ice cream, and the wearable gingerbread hearts no Oktoberfest tourist should go without.
You should also expect oversized beers (from a Frenchies-branded stein which you get to take home), games, competitions – including the obligatory Best Outfit – and prizes.
