When the outlook is looking a bit bleak, you can always bank on Mr West to bring the good times. And so it is again as the top notch Footscray boozer plans to play host to Good Fest: A Westside Block Party.
On January 22 they'll be turning the adjacent Nicholson Street Mall into an open-air shrine to the holy trinity of soul-satisfying things: food, music and delicious booze.
Beginning with the latter, you can expect to wander into an outdoor cantina bar that'll feature bottled cocktails concocted by Melbourne cocktail legends Fancy Free and featuring Aussie spirits and native ingredients, alongside a healthy selection of local beers and natural wines.
Food will come in the form of one of the unsung heroes of the food world (pies), courtesy of the local legends at Pie Thief, plus the best darn Tex-Mex/BBQ fusion food prepared by a former criminal defence attorney that you'll ever bite into, under the banner of Dingo Ate My Taco.
The musical lineup will feature the afro-beat meets dance stylings of Ausecuma Beats, jazz/soul/R'n'B inspired songstress Elaura, Melbourne producer/DJ/performer Amin Payne and the up-and-coming DJ Petra.
The festivities are planned to run from 4pm to 9pm, and entry is free.
BONUS! They're also hosting the first ever tap takeover by farmhouse ale specialists Sobremesa inside the bar from 1pm.
