In 2020, the GABS team launched the Can Design Awards, a competition for the local beer world designed to celebrate those who work on the outside rather than the inside of the cans in beer lovers' hands.
The inaugural winner was Matt O’Connor for his work on Little Bang's Face Inverter (pictured above left with the rest of the top ten) in a competition that saw much more adventurous designs rewarded than is typical in the country's traditional beer awards.
The Golden Can trophy is on offer for the can deemed the country's best again, with entries due in by September 26, 2021.

How It Works
Australian brewing companies can submit ONE design. Entry is free with beers released after July 17, 2020, and available for the public to purchase eligible for the competition.
All designs will be showcased on the GABS website and through their marketing channels with the top ten designs selected in a people's choice vote then adjudicated by a panel of industry experts.
The winner will be announced on October 22, 2021.
Prizes
As well as the Golden Can trophy, the winning brewing company will also receive a set of printing plates from presenting partner Orora valued at $3,000. An additional $5,000 worth of prizes from Opal Specialty Packaging will be shared by the top ten.
The winning designer will also receive $1,000 in cash as well as a 12 month business listing with Brews News.
