The original NightingAle was a pop-up dedicated to beer events, typically centred around large format beers served by the glass to tables.
It was launched by Sophie Goldsmith and Kirrily "Beer Diva" Waldhorn with the combined aims of lifting the profile of beer and creating new spaces to enjoy it.
When lockdown hit in 2020, Sophie was contacted by Rinkydink, a group that puts on music at local bowling clubs and who'd started doing online wine tastings, which led to online NightingAle beer events.
Given the ongoing situation in Melbourne, the online events are up and running again, with Dark & Stormy II lined up for September 23.
The tasting packs the time feature:
- Dark beers from Blackman's, 3 Ravens, King River Brewing and Stomping Ground
- With optional extras of chocolate from Birdsnake, cheese from Thornbury Fromagerie and dessert from Northern Git
Packs are available for pick up within 5km of Northern Git, 757 High Street, Thornbury. Outside the 5km, the NightingAle team have an exemption to deliver the packs.
Tickets cost $40 and there's an option to grab a partner pack too – the same beers and a NightingAle glass to enjoy them from – for $25.
It kicks off at 8pm on September 23, with ticket sales closing at 8pm on September 19.
