If you're a WA-based brewer keen on seeing how your top beers stack up against some of the best of the rest of the state, get your entries in for the WA Good Food Guide Beer of the Year 2021.
The award is part of the wider WA Good Food Guide awards which for a number of years have focused on food, restaurants, bars, wine and the people behind the best of them, but in 2019 a beer category was added (and duly won by Cheeky Monkey for their East Coast IPA).
This year, an experienced industry panel of judges – led by The Crafty Pint's own Guy Southern – will get together in early September and blind taste their way through the long list of entries and nail down the top 25 beers.
Then, like the build-up to any big footy final, these top beers and brewers will get the full media hype treatment around the state – newspapers, socials, billboards, you name it – before the winner is announced at an awards dinner held at Optus Stadium on October 18.
The award is open slather in terms of style – be it a refined lager or a killer mixed ferment, the aim is simply to recognise the best of the best, so make sure yours is in.
HOW TO ENTER
Here's the gist of how to be part of the 2021 awards – for full details, head here and hit up the FAQs:
- Fill out the entry form online (a new submission and fee is required for each entry). To request an invoice, email georgia@wagoodfoodguide.com.
- Package your beer and send it to the address below. You'll need to send a six-pack of beer per entry. For draught submissions, submit two clearly labelled, one litre canimals or equivalent multiple vessels to 2 litres (4 x 500ml cans). Kegs and growlers will not be accepted.
- if submitting multiple beers, at least two core range/regularly available (seasonal release) beers must be included.
- The delivery of beers must take place between September 1-3, 2021 – deliveries will not be accepted outside those dates.
