NEW DATES 2.0 // Darker Days Festival 2021 (VIC)

After facing the fate of many festivals in 2020 and having to scrap their July dates due to a lockdown, Bright Brewery's annual midwinter extravaganza, Darker Days, originally rescheduled to August 27 to 29 and now, with lockdown 6.0 in place, they're aiming for October 2 instead.

The brewery team says:

Sadly, with COVID-19 continuing to kick our collective butts, we have no choice but to postpone our beloved Darker Days Festival again.

When Vic Lockdown #5 claimed our original festival date, we had no idea Lockdown #6 was lurking in the shadows and would continue to wreak havoc. We fervently hoped that restrictions would ease enough by late August to allow Darker Days to take place.

But, unfortunately, as restrictions currently stand, Darker Days is not able to run to its full potential.

Public events are currently limited to 300 people, which is not big enough for this event and, with Melbourne in lockdown, many parts of the event would be negatively impacted.

As it currently stands, we'd have no Melbourne brewers, no Melbourne musicians, no headline act, and no Melbourne visitors - and that is just not the festival we're all hoping for!

While it's possible event limits may lift, and Melbourne may be out of lockdown prior to the day, it's unlikely. And we don't feel it's fair to you - our ticketholders and our vendors - to leave it to the last minute to make a decision on this.

Therefore, we have made the very difficult decision to postpone the entire event again.

The event, when it happens, is a celebration of all things dark and decadent with a focus on dark beer, live music and crackling bonfires.

The plan for the main festival day is for ten hours of live music, cold beer, hot food, local drinks and roaring fires. The original lineup (which we'll update if needed) featured surf-rock icon Kim Churchill plus an eclectic lineup of Victorian musicians, including six-piece funk outfit Funk Rabbit, pop-punk band Since We Kissed, and indie-pop/rock duo This Way North.

This year, the High Country brewery have invited some brewing mates to the festival too, with Mr Banks and Molly Rose making the journey up from Melbourne to join Bright on the dark side. Alpine Cider, Billy Button Wines, Reed & Co Distillery and Backwoods Distilling will also be adding to the drinks menu, with more to be announced too.

NB If you're still planning to be in Bright on the originally rescheduled dates in August, they're in the process of planning a smaller, free event. You can pop your name on a wait list for that here.

Haven't got a ticket?

At the time of writing, due to uncertainty around event restrictions, the brewery are not releasing any more tickets, as they don't feel it would be responsible to do so.
