When your new brewery is located mere metres from one of Melbourne's top football grounds – Victoria Park – it seems only natural you'd brew a beer with footy in mind.
Bodriggy's Speccy Juice is such a beer. Originally it was a collaboration with the Old Bar's pub football team, the Unicorns, and, being a hoppy mid-strength, it's the kind of beer you might enjoy after a game of amateur football. Or, perhaps, during a game, depending on just how amateur things are.
Before they open their home to the public in the coming weeks, the brewery decided to give Speccy Juice a redesign inside and out, with the new look cans containing many a nod to the suburb's colourful history.
And, to celebrate the beer's return, they're heading to Abbotsford neighbours, The Carringbush Hotel, for an hour of $2 tinnies (if the stock lasts that long) from 5pm until 6pm on February 20.
