It's all change for the Ballarat Beer Festival when it returns in 2018. 

Well, not exactly all change as there will still be the colourful collection of brewers, bands, masterclasses and more with which the festival has made its nane. But it does have a new home. 

On January 20, 2018, beer lovers will be making their way to the shores of Lake Wendouree rather than the City Oval as Ballarat becomes #Beerllarat once more.

Filling 20,000 square metres of lakeside land will be brewers pouring more than 150 different beers (see full lineup here), street food stalls, a smattering of stalls pouring local wine and mixing cocktails plus an array of entertainment.

That includes beer education classes, blind tastings, trivia games, a brewers sack race and, of course, music on the main stage – see lineup here. There is also a homebrew competition that gives one lucky winner the chance to commercially brew their winning recipe and see it on tap at The Mallow. 

The Friday Night Degustation returns for those wanting to make a full weekend of things, with this year's five course feast at The Forge Pizzeria, hosted by the Beer Diva and Professor Pilsner.

• Standard General Admission tickets for Saturday's festival cost $45pp plus booking fee, with a range of other tickets and packages available from $28 to $190.
