Black Brewing's winter 2022 addition to their Special Release banner is a classically-styled beer with a modern, sweet and sour infusion that first debuted at GABS. It's a bone dry saison with the added zing of blood orange and some extra fermentables in the form of fresh, southwest honey.
Pouring a striking golden pour, this fruited saison is bursting with classic yeast phenolics and orange zest on the nose. Aromatics like fennel, pepper and lemon complete the mouth-watering bouquet. On tasting, a noble hop bitterness is present against pithy citrus, dark honey, bright lemon and a light herbal character. Long-lasting flavours carry through a light body that finishes with a touch of sweetness, gentle fruit-derived acid, and some residual floral notes. The 7.7 percent ABV is present but is well integrated, just showing after each sip.
Blood Orange Honey Saison is a play on a classic style, showcasing the freshest produce the South West has to offer.
