For Cheeky Monkey’s final release of 2021 in their Surf Series, there's been absolutely no holding back in a beer bragging a whopping 35 grams per litre of hops – one of the highest hopping rates you'll find in a beer.
With delicacy and finesse out of the proverbial window, Gas Bay is a bold affair in which overripe stonefruit, zesty citrus and soft pine bellow out of the glass. A moderate mouthfeel carries a medium bitterness, plus pine and fresh pressed pineapple juice flavours into a long-lasting, sticky finish.
Azacca, Nectaron, Strata and Centennial are the hops chosen to yield an exceptionally dense tropical profile in an IIPA in which a touch of booze and astringency are present buy certainly not overwhelming by any stretch; if anything, they act as a gentle reminder that this juice bomb is in fact 10 percent ABV, so not just heavy on the hop front.
