Pirate Life & Belles Hot Chicken Belles Original Draught

To paraphrase our Prime Minister: how good a combination is fried chicken and beer? Belles Hot Chicken know it, Pirate Life know it and Scott Morrison probably knows it. It’s why the Melbourne-born chicken shop and the Adelaide-based brewery have come together to create a beer with that pairing in mind, the aptly-named Belles Original Draught.

It may be a very classic looking beer and one designed to wash down chicken first and foremost but that doesn’t mean there’s no flavour lurking within its beautifully clear golden body. The pilsner first hits with quite a wave of sulphur and that’s joined by an impressive showing of herbal and floral notes that are more substantial than you might find in a truly classic pils thanks to it stemming from Loral and Ekuanot hops. Alongside it is a building bitterness to match with one of Belles' more intense heat levels. Just beware of Really F**kin Hot (I speak from experience).
