They've gradually been transitioning their beers into cans for quite some time now. And, as we move through 2020, they've been getting rather bolder with them too. Exhibit 1: the return of Peanut Butter Porter, which first appeared in black and tan cans as entry nine in their Brew Crew Series last summer but now is reinvented in the sort of gold cans that kept Kylie's career alive a little longer.
It's a beer with transportive qualities, whisking me across the Pacific and the decades to the everpresent bag of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups my late Uncle Sam would always have in his fridge in South Carolina (although, technically, it's inspired by Buckeye Candy). It's not the darkest of porters, with the supporting cast favouring the sweet – milk chocolate, caramel and toffee – and the peanut butter free to claim the spotlight. Definitely one for fans of dessert beers, with just a smidgen of toasted nut character there to offer a nod in the direction of dryness.
