You don’t have to go to Manly to find a Norfolk Island Pine - the mast-making trees can be found all around Australia. Likewise, you don’t have to go to Manly to find 4 Pines beer - the brand has made its way into fridges across our great land and, as of 2019, in the US as well. So perhaps it was only a matter of time before fellow AB InBev acquisitions, beachy 4 Pines and coastal Golden Road, collaborated on a beer that would equally suit the sunny climes of California and the Northern Beaches… or anywhere else a post-surf beer would go down well.
Dingo Pup is the resulting lovechild. Just as the label boasts of the joining of like-minded breweries - a Norfolk Island Pine standing next to a palm tree tinged with the neon pink of a Los Angeles sunset - the beer brings together Aussie Galaxy and American El Dorado to make a cloudy yellow Trans-Pacific Pale Ale. The hop combination hits the nose as all sweet - mango and citrus, sherbet and bubblegum - but the beer presents a dry malt character in the mouth, and finishes quite crisp. It’s a beer for laid-back afternoons looking over the Pacific Ocean - whichever side you’re looking from.
