This beer is beautiful inside and out - a series of eye-catching label designs on a deliciously drinkable beer. You might even say this beer’s got the whole package. [And you had the gall to accuse me of making dad jokes earlier - Editor]
For context, this beer is the collaboration between Nomad and Budgy Smuggler Swimwear in Manly. Both are family-owned businesses; both began in the Northern Beaches and export to the rest of the world; both enjoy loud patterns and having a laugh.
The beer itself is an easy-drinking summer pale ale that’s bulging with flavour. It shines like sun on the golden sand and has a gentle current of malt carrying along passionfruit, citrus, and a little pineapple. Excellent beer for a hot day - drink it at the beach with a big fat smile on your face.
But back to the design. Budgy Smuggler Pale Ale is sold in four-packs with four different label designs based on four of Budgy Smugglers’ top selling designs: Flaming Goes, Pink Fineapples, Rubber Ducks, and my personal favourite, Wanchors (because that’s obviously what watermelon anchors are called). They’re vivid works of art that scream out to be passed around near or in a body of water, whether that be the Pacific Ocean, a backyard pool, or a bathtub. (There is a rubber ducky design, after all.)
And here’s the kicker: you can also get Budgy Smugglers - the swimwear, not the beer - with Nomad beer can designs on them, either from Nomad’s brewery or the Budgy Smugglers website and Manly store. If you wear a pair of Nomad Budgy Smugglers and a Nomad Hawaiian shirt at the beach while drinking a Budgy Smuggler Pale Ale, you might even be lucky to be called a Wanchor by a passing teenager.
