From the very outset, the team at Bargara Brewery has focused on supporting and highlighting environmental and conservation issues through its beers. Most notably, the Bundaberg based operation brews the Great Barrier Beer for the Good Beer Co to raise funds and awareness for the Great Barrier Reef and now it's embarked upon another marine-themed collaboration.
Its partner for Ray XPA is the Lady Elliot Island Eco Resort, based on an island referred to as Home of the Manta Ray that's one of the best places in the world to dive with the graceful creatures. The beer brewed for the partnership is a New World XPA for which the brewers selected hops we're told lend the beer characters of grapefruit, honeydew melon and kaffir lime.
Bargara CEO Jack Milbank says: “By getting an amazing beer into the hands of thousands of local and international consumers that raises awareness of our pristine, yet delicate reef and the sealife that depend on and call it home, is very powerful. Every beer label encourages consumers to get behind #ProjectManta and will educate people about the importance that the Great Barrier Reef and its inhabitants play for the future of the planet."
Outside the brewery, Ray XPA will initially be available from most Queensland Dan Murphy’s, Cellarbrations Hervey Bay, Liquor Market Maroochydore and Southport and on Lady Elliot Island.
