Tallboy & Moose host an array of events at their Preston brewpub that has to be among the most eclectic of any brewery in Australia. Among the regulars are those that see the venue turned into a wrestling ring, which has led to this collaboration with Mat Earth Society.
Doubling up on my learning of a few hours ago (namely that Waylon Jennings was in both Big Bird's movie and a separate Sesame Street episode), the beer has taught me that a powerbomb is a throw in which an "opponent is lifted and then slammed back-first down to the mat". It's also the name of this West Coast pilsner, a style we wrote about as it started to make waves here a year ago.
For theirs, Tallboy and their wrestling pals opted for citrusy hops to bring modern fruitiness to the older-world pilsner base. That said, I picked up some sweet berry vibes too, in what's a pleasantly aromatic, smooth-on-the-palate pilsner well suited to, well, to being slammed.
