Ever the creatives when it comes to beer, Ocean Reach’s Artist Series takes their flair and puts it onto their can. Just ahead of 2024 coming to a close, the Phillip Island brewery once again teamed up with Ebba Alling to create a couple more tall tins.
Bloom is a cherry sour that seems born for (and more literally was born by) the beach. Pouring with the pink glowing haze of a particularly long sunset, it’s filled with juicy, zippy and fresh cherry flavours that fill the glass with a soft sweetness. Couple those summer delights with a refreshing tartness and a minerality similar to what you’d find in a top-notch riesling and I can already picture how well this beer will cut through and wash down a pile of fish and chips by the beach.
Gaze is brought by the grace of Ocean Reach’s fans who have been requesting the brewery take their fondness for hazy IPAs and turn it into a double. Here Krush (the artist formerly known as HBC 586), Citra and Azacca hops come together to bring fleshy mango, orange, pineapple, mandarin and passionfruit. Sure, at 8.0 percent, this one might be a touch too heavy to refresh after a surf, but it’ll certainly replace any tropical cocktail as you look to shift gears into the night.
