Making a collab beer with a local e-bike company might sound a bit unlikely. But, as much as they’re about good beer, the Sunday Road crew have always been about heading outdoors for that Sunday feeling, whether that’s to relax, have fun, or embark on a wild adventure. And that’s where they intersect with Fatboy Bikes.
Fatboy Pacific Ale captures the shared vibe of these two Sutherland Shire businesses. It’s got an outdoorsy freshness to it, with Vic Secret hops bringing a piney edge to the crashing waves of Galaxy (both in pellet and [Spectrum form] (https://craftypint.com/news/3559/in-hop-pursuit-a-guide-to-new-hop-products#:~:text=Hop%20liquids%20aren’t%20exactly%20new,others%20are%20extracted%20from%20pellets.)). And rather than simply ride the passionfruit and citrus of Galaxy, Fatboy plays on the hop’s danker side for a Pacific ale with real punch. But don’t worry: it’s still a smooth journey, with soft wheat rolling over the tongue and the bitterness riding low and close to the ground.
For their Cherry Sour, Sunday Road capture the vibe of a different kind of electric bike: the laser bikes from Tron.* The neon 80s-style label design takes you to a simpler time before video games, computer hacking and AI were actually capable of tearing down the fabric of civilisation.** And this Cherry Sour is refreshingly simple in its approach. It’s not imperial, or loaded with lactose, and has no bakeries added into the mix. There’s sour zing, a dash of cherry, and a glint of red, and that’s all that’s needed here.
Reminder: don’t drink and drive laser bikes in a death race tournament organised by the owner of a giant corporation in a dystopian capitalist future.***

* They are bikes, aren’t they…? I must confess, my limited knowledge of Tron comes from pop culture osmosis – I’ve never actually seen it.
** Again, I don’t actually know if Tron is about any of this or not. Flying by the seat of my pants here.
*** You know the drill: haven’t seen, don’t know, making it up, etc. At this point I should just write my own version of Tron.
