The biggest beer in Broulee Brewhouse's year-round offering – perhaps the reason why the black cockatoo on the cans has decided to participate in a nudie run – IPA still hoves closely to the brewery's desire to match modern craft flavours with approachability.
The beer mixes some classic American IPA vibes with the contemporary from the off, the latter taking the form of a ripe papaya top note with deep, slightly stewed, orange citrus and pine flavours awaiting underneath. There’s bitterness there – piney and earthy – albeit balanced by the caramelly malt base and set at a level with modern craft beer palates in mind, thus far less aggressive than the earlier IPAs that paved the way.
