Why do I even bother?
As I opened up Facebook to find an image for this write-up, I saw Reckless had just won another two trophies for their beers: their BX Old and Baltic Porter both pulled champion beer in their respective categories at the Sydney Royal Beer Awards.
So why do I waste my time talking about their beers when these awards are shouting over the top of me?
Sure, this Hazy Pale isn’t the same as those two dark beers. And their trophy at the AIBAs earlier this year was for their Red IPA, and their Indies win last year was for their Stout. Now that I think about it, they haven’t won a trophy for a pale ale since their XPA at the AIBAs last May. Gold medals, sure, but no trophies.
So maybe they do need me to hype up their Hazy Pale. It’s hoppy! It’s fruity! So tropical, so citrus, so fresh, so aroma!
Then again, it’s stuffed full of so many hops and oats and wheat that it’s less transparent than at least two of the four darker beers mentioned above. So perhaps this light-blocker has more in common with those beers than I first thought.
So again: why do I even bother?
