With their brewery overlooking one of the world's most famous beaches, little surprise Curly Lewis set out to provide the good burghers of Bondi with bright and breezy beers – descriptors that suit this pair of limited releases.
Tropic XPA takes what is typically a lighter form of pale ale and makes it lighter still: very pale and very stripped back and with the carbonation jacked up a little to boost its sprightliness further. Light sherbety citrus aromas meet stonefruit undertones and a beer that's lean and crisp on the palate. In short, a warm weather quaffer.
There are few additions that lend themselves to colouring beers as well as hibiscus and it's no different with Flower Sour. Crimson as you like, the manages to maintain a floral perfume despite the potency of yuzu – the Japanese citrus fruit they’ve used elsewhere. Strawberries brings a sweetness to taste while the yuzu adds tang to the sourness in what’s a genuinely zippy refresher.
