Good Land Brewing clearly needn't worry about whether they'll have enough friends to join them at their birthday, with the brewery inviting a bunch of mates for collaborations in the lead-up to their Good Days festivities. You can read about the sweeter of those birthday beers here, but those dark delights were just the beginning.
But before we get stuck into those, Paper Boy is Good Land's and Good Land's alone. After all, it's always good to steal a moment just for yourself on your big day, and here they've opted for the simple pleasure of a hazy pale ale with American hops. So read all about it (actually, you’re better off drinking it) to discover citrus, passionfruit, and pine against a lush but dry and softly bitter backdrop.
Citrus Mistress, meanwhile, was made with fellow Gippslanders Sailors Grave. Naturally, the neighbours (if you consider people within 200 kilometres of your home to be your neighbour) brewed a hoppy saison. It features a malt bill made up of pale malt, rye, spelt, oats, and raw wheat and pours hazy. With an ABV of 8.0 percent, there's quite a lengthy palate weight and body in this smooth and textural beer that's effectively a double farmhouse IPA (is that a thing?). As the name suggests, there's certainly plenty of citrus, courtesy of Eclipse hops, sitting between mandarin and grapefruit, while these have been spiked with cloves and a mélange of other spices.
Lastly, Good Land got together with Melbourne’s Banks to create Good Banks, an absolute delight of a double IPA. Made with Citra HBC 1019 and Peacharine, it's the kind of smooth and velvety creation fans of both brewers love. It brings nectarine and tastes more like a smoothie, syrup, or fruit in a can rather than whole fruit, along with sweet blood orange that comes across as if it’s been freshly squeezed into a glass.
