Satan’s Dark Heart by 7th Day Brewery: it’s a stout, it’s nitro, it’s imperial. I’m making this preamble quick because I want to drink this right now.
After a quick shake to unleash the beast, Satan’s Dark Heart pours with a Milo-esque nitro cascade before a latte head rests atop an impenetrable shade of dark chocolate, giving off aromas of red wine, whisky and bitter dark chocolate.
If that's not enough to entice you, then let me continue...
Sipping through the moustache-hugging head, this imperial nitro stout reminds you it is all three of these things: hints of the aforementioned aromas are turned up to full volume. If I was blind tasting this I might have wagered there was some whisky barrel infusion happening, yet there is zero evidence any such thing occurred other thsan the taste. Perhaps such things, and the bitter chocolate notes, are heightened by the 10.6 percent ABV, which still mananages to remain very balanced and drinkable, suggesting Lucifer might have a soft side after all.
(Yeah, that’s right. Take that, my RE 1 teacher.)
