To borrow a title from George R.R. Martin’s unreleased book that he probably won’t write, Hop Nation dream of spring. During a time when the days don’t get much colder and the shelves are simply stacked with dark beers, the Melbourne brewers have decided to prepare palates for warmer weather with Frisbee.
Even the guava sour’s tinny design helps you imagine Melbourne’s parks aren’t full of mud, while the heavy use of fruit certainly shocks you into another season. Maybe it’s because I’ve spent months drinking little else but stouts, but it seems there’s no shortage of sourness to be found. Indeed, the acidity runs through each sip, making the tropical delights of guava taste as if the fruit has been crushed into some sour lollies.
