Ocassionally you try two beers and your immediate thought is: I must blend these together. That's certainly what's been provided by Hop Nation for while both beers certainly have plenty going for them on their own (and weren't exactly made to be drunk us one), a dash of a single beer into the other creates something new. First up, Jammy Dodger is their pastry stout brewed for Carwyn Cellars' Black Box 2024, with the pastry stout made with freeze-dried raspberries and some additional cinnamon. Naturally it means you'll be treated to sweet rapsberry flavours akin to a hot jam doughnut with that thought only enhanced by the added cinnamon. But, rather than stopping at one jam doughnut, image you grabd a slice of chocolate cake too as there's plenty of creamy sweetness at play and rich lashing of milk chocolate against the beer's super smooth body.
Just as dark but far more restrained is Coffee Karma that was brewed with the help of Rumble Coffee Roasters. The caffeine-laced spin on the brewery's longstanding stout features beans grown at 1100 metres on Santo Antonio Farm in Brazil and presumably, more altitude means more flabour with that addition bringing a whole lot of dark plum and roasted elements to naturally complement the beer's bitter dark chocolate side that's more roasted than sweet. That is of course, unless you pair it with Jammy Dodger which you 100 percent should...
