Between its peachy blush and its light haze, Sunshine State IPA has me feeling like I’m about to sip a fruity cocktail on a beach somewhere – one of those ones that’s four parts fresh juice and comes with a big curly straw.
To be fair, there sure is plenty of fruit in this beer. As well as the actual additions of finger limes and rosella (which is where that lovely colour comes from), this baby’s loaded up with Azzaca, Superdelic, El Dorado – all of which are absolutely determined to stuff your cheeks full of fruit like you’re a chipmunk.
The combo of aromas and flavours feels quite fresh, even if each of the individual notes sounds familiar. There’s berries, tropical fruits, spicy pineapple, and plenty of citrus peel and pine bitterness. And while I’m not sure where it’s coming from, I’m certain I’m getting a dash of coconut as well. Unless I’ve just used the power of suggestion on myself by imagining that tropical island cocktail image.
