I’ll ya what, how’s this for a bit of fun? In the spirit of friendly competition, Bodriggy's staff came together to brew the best IPA they could. You might be asking, aren’t breweries meant to do that each and every day? Sure, the brewers might but this was a literal competition where Bodriggy team members from across the entire business were put into groups, asked to sit down, drink some IPAs from various breweries and then design one. A few weeks later, those five beers were blind-tasted and voted and it was a broad mix of final beers too, taking in modern cues and more traditional approaches.
But while each IPA might have been enjoyed, there can only be one winner - OK five winners with Chloe, Jess, Leith, Andrew and Lola impressing the palates of Bodo's people. So, what recipe did that collective use to secure bragging rights over their colleagues?
As far as IPAs go, I’ll Tell Ya What, is certainly in the more modern Cali camp with the hop charge brought by Eclipse, Calypso and Nelson Sauvin to bring snappy citrus zest, light mango and fresh nectarine while a firm bitterness carries through. But unlike the ultra lean, a decent amount of oats in the malt bill bring a soft mouthfeel while there’s a touch of sweetness at play too.
