Breweries often use winter to rein in the paler IPAs and move towards the darker more malt-led territory of stouts, red IPAs and black IPAs (personally I'm still holding out hope for a brown IPA era). Sure, Hop Nation have plenty of darker beers on the way (we are nearing Kalash season after all) but they’ve also used Winter Storm as a reminder that it’s never a bad time to drink West Coast IPAs.
To make it, they used a mix of advanced hop products with Columbus and El Dorado Incognito featured on the hot side before double dry hopping with Mosaic Cryo and Simcoe Cryo. It all makes for quite a sticky beast where resin, pine, grapefruit rind and citrus oil all roll into one and - like a ship without a lighthouse - crash into a bitter bite.
