Having secured the site for its Brisbane brewery, BrewDog now needs someone to lead all things brewing in Australia.

The Scottish brewery is on the hunt for an experienced brewer to become its next head of production.

JOB DESCRIPTION: HEAD OF PRODUCTION

We’re looking for an industry leading Head of Production to lead our flagship facility in Brisbane, Australia! This is an incredible opportunity for an established Brewery Manager, Head of Production or Master Brewer with a brilliant attitude, a thirst for great beer, a technically flawless CV, and proven business prowess to join the BrewDog team.

Reporting to our Australian Director aka Top Dog, you will carry on our legacy for creating world class craft beers in our Australian facility, ensuring that any beers we produce in Australia meet the same rigorous criteria and standards of quality we expect from our beers at our Head Quarters in Ellon, Scotland. When it comes to our Headliner and Amplified range of beers, you’ll make it your mission to ensure that it is impossible to distinguish the beers brewed in Brissie from those brewed at our flagship brewery in Ellon, even in a blind taste panel run by our expert Quality team.

A phenomenal leader who can do more than just talk the talk, you will be prepared to roll up your sleeves and get elbow deep in hops as you train, facilitate and inspire our production crew in the brewing, packaging and supply of outstanding craft beers. Main Duties

  • Working in collaboration with the build team on the commissioning of our 50HL Brew House, Canning Line and everything else production related!
  • Create, oversee, manage and develop all elements of the supply chain operations at our brewery, including;
                   -Brewing 
                   -Packaging  
                   -Maintenance and Engineering
  • Managing a small, lean team across the above areas to exceed departmental and company goals.
  • Budget formulation, management and execution; you will oversee all aspects of raw material procurement, utilities, spare parts management, dry and finished goods administration.
  • Forecasting and setting departmental and company wide production targets while constantly working to improve efficiencies as well as maintain the high quality we expect from our beers.
  • Possessing excellent analytical abilities and proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, you will be responsible for implementing efficient systems of data gathering, monitoring and analysis, compiling this information into regular reports which outline key targets and solutions for improving efficiencies and the overall running of our brewing facility.
  • Solid engineering background to ensure the build, instillation and tests are done efficiently with safety at the forefront of your agenda.

  • Take a proactive approach to individual learning and development to generate a greater understanding of areas that require improvement/development.
  • To provide support to area Continuous Improvement Managers to help set targets and KPI’s.
  • To provide support to BrewDog production facilities around the world when needed.
  • To complete additional tasks as directed by the Line Manager.
  • Approach challenges with a positive and collaborative attitude, maintaining an open mind to positive change.

Skills/Experience

  • Well versed brewing industry professional 8-10 years relevant experience.
  • An expert in brewing, filtration, fermentation and yeast management, having worked in brewing management for at least 5 years.
  • Possess complete understanding of the brewing process and equipment, able to formulate complex recipes and deal with the challenges faced by forefront craft breweries.
  • A natural, empathetic leader with the ability to influence, encourage and motivate all team members.
  • Excellent Communication and organisation.
  • Sound understanding of packaging line equipment and maintenance scheduling.
  • Analytical skills and experience in start-up project management and fulfilment, with a proven track record for improving efficiencies and pioneering growth and development.
  • Strong functional engineering knowledge (Degree or Brewery build).
  • An articulate and intelligent individual, you will be well practiced in dealing with various internal and external stakeholders, successfully working with them to ensure we continue to brew outstanding craft beers.
  • To read, write and speak fluent English.
